Sparklight awards $7,500 grant to Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN), a non-profit organization serving Greene and Putnam counties, has been chosen by Sparklight communications to receive a $7,500 community grant. Sparklight, formerly known as Hargray, is owned by national broadband communications provider Cable One.
NHN serves the people in Greene and Putnam counties who live below the poverty line by making critical HOME REPAIRS, finding family TRANSPORTATION and providing BEDS FOR CHILDREN who don’t have their own. “It’s essential to everybody to have these things to get them through life,” said Tom Kelley, Southeast Regional Director for Sparklight. “I remember as a kid. That was my refuge. A nice warm bed at night. You knew that you were loved and that people appreciated you.”
In a check presentation, Bob Massey, President of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, thanked Kelley for the generous donation. “Its because of the kindness of companies like Sparklight, as well as our donors and members, that we are able to accomplish this very important work.”
The Beds for Kids are constructed and delivered by dedicated volunteers from the First Methodist Church of Greensboro—Lake Oconee (a NHN partner organization). Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to providing a “hand up not a handout” to local residents in need.
