Neighbors Helping Neighbors Awarded Community Foundation of Central Georgia Grant
Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Central Georgia in support of its Beds for Kidz program.
In the past two years, NHN has partnered with volunteers from the Greensboro First United Methodist Church Mission Team and provided funding to build and deliver beds to children in Putnam and Greene counties who would otherwise have no place of their own to sleep.
In the past two years, almost 300 children in Lake Country have received newly constructed beds, complete with mattresses, sheets, pillows, blankets, and a small stuffed animal.
The grant will allow Neighbors Helping Neighbors to continue this work.
“There are so many children in our communities who, through no fault of their own, must share beds with siblings or sleep on the floor,” said NHN President Bob Massey. “Thanks to the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, more of them will soon be able to get the sleep they need for better learning and bigger dreams.”
The Community Foundation of Central Georgia was formed in 1993 by citizens interested in encouraging philanthropy and strengthening communities by enhancing the quality of life for the people of Central Georgia.
